Licence-free fishing returns for Family Fishing Weekend

Licence-free fishing returns for Family Fishing Weekend

By Richard Coffin

With Monday being Family Day, that means it’s Family Fishing Weekend in Ontario.

The province says Saturday through Monday (Feb. 14-16), Canadian residents can fish in Ontario waters for free.

You don’t need a fishing licence, but all regulations and catch-limits still apply, and you’ll need to carry government-issued identification with your.

This weekend is one of four licence-free fishing opportunities this year. The others include Mother’s Day and Father’s Day weekends, along with Family Fishing Week from June 27 to July 5.
