O’CONNOR, Shamus
Shamus Micheal Patrick O’Connor aka Jamie O’Connor, 53 of North Bay, passed away very peacefully in a room filled with love on January 24th, 2026 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
He was born January 9th, 1973 to Tom and Carol O’Connor, at St. Joesph’ s General hospital in North Bay.
Shamus graduated from the Carpentry program at Canadore College.
He began his career in hospitality working at Pat & Marios, as a bartender. He spent 10 years working in the kitchen at the Moose and eventually ended up as a night stocker at Walmart.
Shamus had a passion for cooking, cars (especially his 82 Blue Volvo) and music.
Whether it was listening to his vinyl collection or going on road trips to concerts with his friends “the boys”.
Shamus is survived by his daughter Casey Rylee( Adrien). His sister Kathryn (Scott), niece Kenna-Dee, nephew Cameron.
Aunt Judy and Uncle Lou and the Ottawa/Gatineau crew. Aunt Mary and Uncle Floyd and the famjam on Manitoulin Island.
And last but not least his beloved companion Odie (his 18-year-old dachshund) who will outlive us all.
He will be greatly missed by friends and family but will forever live on in stores and the memories we have.
He was predeceased by his parents Tom & Carol O’Connor, grandparents Tom & Alice O’Connor, Ken & Ev Gooding and his Aunt Barbra Kelly, to name a few.
He has been cremated as per his wishes.
And a celebration of life will be held later on once the weather gets nicer.
Special thank you to Dr Abeysinghe and his fantastic team, the renal unit at NBRHC (his second home for almost a decade. And lastly Dr Meyer and the staff in CCU. This unit is filled with compassion, understanding, and genuine concern for the families of their patients.
