Parry Sound is celebrating.

Hometown freestyle skier Megan Oldham won bronze in the slopestyle final at the Winter Games in Italy on Monday.

Already in third place through the first two runs, the 24-year-old upped the ante with a score of 76.46 in her third and final run, to hang on to third place and win the hardware.

This is the second Olympics for Oldham.

Four years ago in Beijing, she finished just off the podium in the Big Air event and was just short of qualifying for the slopestyle final.

Fellow Canadian, 21-year-old Naomi Urness was seventh in Monday’s event, her Olympic debut.

Oldham’s bronze medal is Canada’s second at the games.

On Saturday, Val Maltais reached the podium with a third-place finish in women’s 3000m speed skating.
