Raymond Major
With heavy hearts the Major family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, Great grandfather and Great Great grandfather Raymond Major. He peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at Cassellholme on Tuesday December 30,2025 in his 90th year. Raymond was the beloved husband of 69 years to the late Aline (nee Desrosiers) Major, and the loving father to Bonnie Bon (late Dave), Joanne Forbes (Don), Joyce Boudreau (Allan), Richard Major (Cheryl), Ronald Major (Julie), and Gerald Major (Lori). He was the cherished grandfather to Christopher, Steven, Douglas, Tom, Scott, Jennifer, Mathieu, Joshua, Jacob, Lucas, Megan, Wyatt, Jesse, Lindsy, Raymond, Michael, Sarah, and April, and great-grandfather to 35 and great great father to 2. Raymond is predeceased by his siblings Rudolph Major (late Wanneta), Therese Fournier (late Rene), Marcel Major (late Marie), Claude Major (late Lorraine), Celine Devins (late Stu), Jacques Major (Edith), Jeannette Leblanc (late Henry), and Francois Major. He is also predeceased by his parents Donat Major and Pamela/Mable (nee Gareau) Major.
The loving bond created by Raymond and Aline created a truly loving family that was very close and kept expanding over time. Their journey began in a little place called Osseo, Ontario not far from New Liskeard when he met his love and soulmate Aline. They continued to live throughout Northern Ontario until they landed in North Bay in the late 60's to set the roots that would last the test of time. Dad loved to spend time with his family whether it be ice fishing, family BBQ's, camping, snowmobiling or out on the ATV's and his ability to filet a fish was second to none. The family's corn roast was an event that family and close friends cherished over the years with music, games, fun and a lot of laughs. Raymond and Aline loved country music and would listen for hours and hours either in the house or camping or just about anywhere which they would often dance to. Their legacy of love, strength, compassion and devotion to family will live on in all of us. Raymond was a hard worker and Tough as Nails as we would often say. He would lead by example and taught his children the benefit to hard work and being honest and good to other people. He worked in the Mining, Forestry and Trucking industry over the years and was a true entrepreneur that would always get what was needed to get done. He loved working on projects in his garage and it seemed no job was too big for him to tackle. Raymond will be forever remembered by many nieces, nephews and so many family friends as he made an immediate impact on so many lives. Our family rock has moved on but we have gained a Guardian Angel who will now join his wife to dance again to the country music they so loved, they will forever keep looking after us from above and continue to be our biggest fans. His smile, kind heart, blue eyes and strong will have left memorable moments that we will all remember and cherish. His favorite saying when people he loved were leaving his house was "you all come back now you hear". We love you dad, your with mom and its time for you to dance together once again.
We would like to thank the staff at Cassellholme for helping to care for him and the compassion displayed during a difficult time for the entire family.
As per Raymond’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will take place in the spring. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be gratefully acknowledged by family. Online condolences can be made www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
