$2 Million for Seymour Street Reconstruction

The Ontario government is investing $2 million in the City of North Bay through the Northern Ontario Resource Development Support (NORDS) Fund. ($400,000 of this funding was announced in 2021, when the provincial government announced the investment of $15 million annually to Northern Municipalities to help support infrastructure projects over the next five years). NORDS funding has been used to support the Seymour Street Widening project.
“The NORDS Program has invested in infrastructure projects to stimulate economic growth across Northern Ontario and here in North Bay,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “With shovels in the ground, the new Seymour Street reconstruction project will not only assist with the long-term transportation needs of the city, but it will also create jobs.”
NORDS is part of the government’s Building Ontario plan, a comprehensive plan to build transit, health, education, technology, and municipal and community infrastructure across the province. The funding has shared the benefits of mining and forestry with municipalities, complementing other funding streams, such as the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF), to build infrastructure across the province.
