Who will represent Northern Ontario in the 2024 Canadian Masters Curling Championships!

 North Bay plays host to the Northern Ontario Curling Association’s Provincial Masters Playdowns next week. The "Masters-level" brings curlers with decades of curling experience together, producing extremely exciting games. The North Bay Granite Club offers an excellent venue with high quality ice conditions for the competitors, a large lounge for fans and a system called Curling Stadium streaming the playdown over YouTube for those unable to watch in person www.youtube.com/@curlingstadiumnorthbay2930 . Competitors must turn 60 years of age or older in 2024. 

 Held at the Granite Club, 2624 Trout Lake Rd with free parking and free admission, curling enthusiasts are encouraged to drop by to take in the event in person. There are seven Men’s teams competing - representing Sault Saint Marie, Timmins, two teams from Sudbury area and three Granite Club teams.

 Women’s Masters was previously determined with North Bay’s Team Patti Callahan representing Northern Ontario this coming April in Saguenay Lac-St-Jean Quebec.

 The opening ceremony is scheduled for 5pm on Wednesday January 3, 2024, with welcoming remarks and introduction of the competing teams. Local representation includes Team Rick Miller, Team Dennis Gebhart and Team Jamie Graham, all perennial favorites in their respective leagues and local bonspiels. Two Sudbury teams representing the Northern Credit Union Curling Club are Team Chris Gordon and Team Robbie Gordon. From the Timmins region, Team Floyd Hopson represents the McIntyre Curling Club and representing Sault Saint Marie is Team Hamden curling out of the Community First CC.

 You can expect to see are elite curlers and phenomenal competition with the first-round robin games starting at 6pm on Wednesday January 3, 2024, through January 7, 2024. Semi-finals will resume at 10am on Sunday with the Championship game to follow at 2:30pm.
