2024 Hometown run raises big funds for Youth Special Olympics
The 2024 Hometown run for Youth Special Olympics in North Bay was a resounding success. Despite the rain, over 90 runners participated in this years event, raising $18,000.
The funds will go towards covering the participation fess for local Special Olympic Youth Athletes (ages 6-21). Race Co-Director Lisa O’Kane says, “The support from our community is always wonderful to see and greatly appreciated. It was truly amazing to see so many people come out to run and walk while raising funds for our amazing Special Olympic Youth Athletes.
We can’t wait to see everyone again next year and we’re promising a sunny day in 2025!” Photos from the race day are available here: https://www.facebook.com/north.bay.hometown.run Race Co-Director Rob Saunders says, “We can’t thank the runners and the walkers enough for the funds they have raised, as well as our corporate sponsors.
I also want to thank all the volunteers and the committee who made all of this possible. This was all done so that we can continue to have great programs that not only support healthy active living but also supports our athletes. On behalf of our Special Olympic Youth Athletes, we thank you!” O’Kane adds, “We want to encourage everyone to spend the year getting healthy and active and ready for next years run, so we are instituting an early, early bird pricing that starts now and will roll through January 31 2025!”
