Local Man Charged in 2022 Death and Multiple Sexual Offences
A 29-year-old North Bay man was arrested and charged in relation to multiple sexual offences in addition to trafficking-controlled substances that has led to the death of a person that occurred in early 2022.
The accused in this incident is:
Cody SECORD, age 29, of North Bay, and Powassan, who is charged with:
· One count of Manslaughter
· Fourteen Counts of Trafficking Schedule I substance
· Two Counts of Sexual Assault
· Two Counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching
· One count of Voyeurism
· Three Counts of Householder Permitting Sexual Activity
· Eight Counts of Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order Regarding Children
· One count of Make Child Pornography
· One count of Possess Child Pornography
After a lengthy police investigation, members of the North Bay Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested the accused on the 7th August 2024.
On multiple occasions in 2022, the accused procured and provided illegal drugs to the victims and subsequently performed sexual offences on and with the victims. In one incident, the accused procured and provided illegal drugs to one of the victims, which was consumed, and resulted in the victim’s overdose death.
The North Bay Police Service will not be providing any further information in relation to this investigation to protect the identity of the victims, as well as the integrity of the investigation and the ongoing court process.
The accused remains in custody pending his next court appearance at the North Bay Courthouse.
