30th Anniversary Celebrations go August 31st
With the temporary closure last month, The Heritage Railway and Carousel Company had to reschedule their planned 30th Anniversary Celebrations and today the 30th Anniversary Committee have announced a new date of Saturday, August 31st from 10 am to 6 pm.
"We are excited to welcome local and out-of-town riders, and celebrate the original railway volunteers and sponsors. Along with the carousel carvers and artists, sponsors and donors who adopted the many facets of the two carousels and hundreds of volunteers" says Ralph Celentano, Chair of the 30th Anniversary Committee. Celentano continues "Our volunteers become hosts and community ambassadors to the thousands of people who visit our waterfront attraction every summer."
In appreciation of the past 30 years of support, the committee will offer 'a one day only "retro" ticket prices' at our Kiosk inviting everyone to come down and experience a carousel ride or train ride for one dollar a trip! Cash transactions only.
The anniversary celebration program remains unchanged as the day starts with face painting from 10 am until noon.
The committee will be honouring the Co-founders and the volunteers who brought their vision of the miniature railway and waterfront carousel assets to life and changed the city's waterfront. In addition, the celebration will recognize the two millionth rider during the 1 pm Ceremony.
"That Saturday afternoon between 2pm-6pm we have invited members of the Rorab Shriners Clown Unit and local celebrity mascots walk amongst the visitors as there is a limited quantity of donated prizes. A static display including past memorabilia and photos will be on site showing the early beginnings of the 1994 railway volunteers, and those individuals who supported each installation of our carousels from 1999-2005. All past volunteers, Adopters, sponsors, artists, and volunteers are most welcome to drop by and reminisce with us", says Celentano.
In case of inclement weather, the organizers will continue with the event the following day, Sunday September 01, same time 10 am-6pm.
