$6.9 Million to Improve Transit in North Bay

The Ontario government is investing $6.9 million through the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program to support the City of North Bay’s eight transit infrastructure projects.
Today’s investments in local transit projects include the following:
· $3,281,208 million for the construction of sidewalks and associated stormwater improvements
· $3,170,647 to replace eight conventional transit buses with hybrid buses, improving fuel mileage and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
· $179,982 to refurbish the bus washing facility
· $103,872 for transit terminal upgrades, including interior and exterior lighting and roof repairs
· $72,615 to upgrade automatic vehicle locator screens and install driver barriers on approximately 20 conventional buses
· $56,283 to replace six new bush shelters and install four new concrete pads
· $24,479 to upgrade the fare system
· $7,665 to replace and upgrade bus barn lighting
