Academy Award nominated short being screened in North Bay

April 16 is National Canadian Film Day and a critically acclaimed, Academy Award-nominated Canadian short film is being screened locally.
NIGIQTUQ (The South Wind) is based on a true story passed down by Inuk filmmaker Lindsay McIntyre’s grandmother.
Officials say the 16-minute film earned widespread acclaim, with over 25 international festival selections and numerous awards.
North Bay Film and Near North Mobile Media Lab are presenting the screening at the Capitol Centre at 7:30 pm, followed by their feature film, Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths.
Officials say event marks the annual celebration of Canadian cinema and reflects their shared commitment to showcasing impactful, homegrown storytelling on the big screen.
