Adding some evening hours of service at OKP

One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre (OKP) is extending services to the evening hours every second Wednesday, starting next week.

The move is being made in response to community feedback and increased demand.

OKP officials say the goal is to enhance accessibility and provide families with more flexible scheduling options, addressing the growing need for timely treatments.

“We recognize the need for appointment times outside the standard work and school day,” says Steve Deacon, Chair of the Board of Directors. “This change is intended to ease the burden on families, allowing them to manage appointments without disrupting work and school schedules. Our goal is to enhance client services and better support our families.”

Starting September 4, evening services will be offered every second Wednesday from 4:30 to 7 pm.

Brenda Loubert, Executive Director, says extending their service hours will help alleviate some of the pressures families face and ensure they receive timely access to essential treatments.

“One Kids Place will monitor the use of the extended hours and hopes to expand to other service areas where feasible,” Loubert says.

Established in 2005, One Kids Place provides community-based rehabilitation, offering a range of services, including Autism Services, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, and Therapeutic Recreation.

The centre also provides various clinics and camps to support children and youth from birth to 19 years old.
