Aggressive Driving Investigation Leads to Impaired Driving, Drug Trafficking and Weapons Charges
The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) has charged a man with impaired driving, drug trafficking, and a weapons offence after officers responded to a traffic complaint involving an aggressive driver.
On July 22, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the NBPS responded to a traffic complaint regarding an aggressive driver in the area of Main Street East and Lakeshore Drive. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Milford Crescent. During the traffic stop, officers observed signs consistent with drug impairment and found the driver to be in possession of a controlled substance. The driver was arrested and transported for a Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE), where he was determined to be impaired by a drug. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit drugs believed to be intended for the purpose of trafficking, as well as a replica handgun.
The accused, William DELLER, 42-year-old male, of North Bay, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
In addition to the criminal charges, the driver's licence was automatically suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Subsequent search led to the seizure of the following items:
- Pellet handgun
- Controlled substances including:
- 17.3 grams of Cocaine
- Qty 4 Percocet pills
- $650 Canadian Currency
“Our members responded quickly, conducted a thorough investigation, identified the risks involved, and took action to prevent further harm to the public,” said Insp. Scott MacFarlane. “We remain committed to addressing dangerous behaviour and protecting our community.”
The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
