Albert Natale Costante

Albert Natale Costante

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear father, Albert, in his 103rd year. He was born in North Bay on December 25th, 1923 to Guiseppina (Broccolo) and Francesco Costante (Cosenza, Italy). He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Costante (Veltri). He is predeceased by his son Louis, his grandson Andrew, and great granddaughter Mya, as well as his brothers Geno, Louis, Sam, Mike, Rudy, and his sisters Mary, Amelia, Lundy and Margaret. In 1945, he married the love of his life, our mother Mary and together they raised six children.

Dad was a CP Rail carman and an entrepreneur for many years. He had a wonderful sense of humour telling stories and jokes to family and his many friends. He was very proud of the fact he could speak 3 languages fluently, English, Italian, and self-taught French. He was known for his kindness within his community, and he absolutely adored his family. He was one of the many volunteer retirees who laid the track for and ran the Heritage Train at the North Bay waterfront. He delighted in all the children whose faces lit up at the prospect of having a train ride.

A devout Catholic, Dad was a Senior Altar Server and was very involved at St Rita’s Church. He bowled every week in the senior’s league well into his nineties, and loved fishing and the outdoors, but his favorite activities of all were family gatherings.

He will be eternally loved and remembered by his children, Barbara (Dieter), Gerald (Jann), Christine (Dale), Edward (Pauline), and Mary Lou (Rob), his grandchildren Deborah (Steve), Luciano (Ericka), Adriana (Jay), Dana, Santina, Brooke (Brad), Evan (Lisa), Ryan (Andrea), Jennifer, Dustin, Carly, his great grandchildren and great great grandchild.

He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him including his brother-in-law Rudy (Evelyn), his sister-in-law Josie and his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd., on Friday April 17th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday April 18th at St Peter the Apostle Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dad’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of North Bay.
