All five mayoral candidates take part in Chamber debate
A few sparks, a large crowd, plenty of promises, and no shortage of topics.
That sums up the mayor’s debate held Monday night at West Ferris Secondary School.
The North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce and Cogeco hosted the event, with all five candidates taking part.
A few challenges were made around past performance, attendance and expense policies, but the candidates allowed each other to get their views across throughout the debate.
Issues discussed ranged from housing and homelessness, measurable results, roads and infrastructure, taxpayer affordability, growth, integrity, accountability and transparency, a ward system, and more.
Donna Backer, Chamber CEO, was pleased with the event.
“It was entertaining for sure, but it’s also an opportunity for constituents to what each candidate wants to bring to the table and how they see the city moving forward,” she says. “I really enjoyed the fact that we were talking more about the future than past experiences. They were all calm, cool, collected, and very respectful as well. I think there’s something to be said about that.”
The debate will be broadcast on Your TV North Bay Tuesday night at 7 pm, and posted to YouTube.
Election Day is Monday, Oct. 26.
