Allie Melvin Joseph Pitt
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allie Melvin Joseph Pitt, age 89, on September 30, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., at Mattawa Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Fort-Coulonge, Quebec, Allie eventually made his home in Mattawa, where he built a life filled with family, hard work, and the simple pleasures he loved.
Allie was a true lumberjack and bushman. He was always doing something and could rarely sit still for long. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He continued working for as long as he could. Even then, his drive to stay busy and his strong work ethic remained a part of who he was.
He loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and enjoyed a good meal surrounded by the people he loved.
Above all, Allie was a family man. He was always making sure everyone had everything they wanted and needed, and he found happiness in taking care of the people around him.
At the centre of Allie's life was his beloved Beulah. They spent more than 50 years together before finally getting married, building a lifetime of love, companionship, memories, and family. Their bond was deep and unwavering. Allie would have done anything for Beulah, and his love and devotion to her were evident to everyone who knew them. She was the love of his life and his greatest companion.
Allie was also a character in his own right, and his family will never forget the little things that made him uniquely him. He had his own way of doing things—like using Raid as bug spray—and those who knew him will surely smile remembering it. In the afternoons, you could sometimes hear Allie yodeling, adding his own soundtrack to the day and leaving his family with memories that will bring smiles for years to come.
Allie will be deeply missed by his children: Allie Jr., Steve, Clayton, Chantal (Steve), Donna, and Lisa. He was a proud grandfather to Kyle (Melanie), Colton, Bradon, Kayla (Mike), Lee, Jesse, and Jason, and a great-grandfather to many cherished great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings Tana (John), Wade, Shannon, and Ronnie (Brenda). He was predeceased by his sons Jimmy, Randy, and Vincy, and by his brothers Mervin, Dwight, and Peter.
Allie leaves behind a lifetime of memories—of days spent in the bush, working hard, hunting and fishing, enjoying good meals, taking care of his family, and simply being Allie. He was hardworking, generous, devoted, and always ready to keep busy.
His greatest legacy is the family he built, the love he shared with Beulah, and the countless memories he leaves behind. His family will carry those memories forward and keep his spirit alive for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, @ 2:00 pm at the Lions Den in Mattawa, where family and friends will gather to share memories, stories, laughter, and love in honour of Allie and the life he lived.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered—and whenever someone hears a yodel in the afternoon, we hope they think of him.
Arrangements entrusted to Basic Cremation Services.
