Attempt Murder Charge in Shooting

North Bay Male Faces 13 Charges, Including Attempt Murder

A 21-year-old North Bay man remains in custody and will appear in bail court today, after a June 5th shooting in an elementary school parking Lot.  The accused now faces 13 Criminal Charges in relation to the incident.

The incident occurred just after 2 am, on Wednesday June 5th, after several individuals had gathered on the property of Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School to consume alcohol.  An argument took place between the victim and the accused, and the accused threatened the victim.  A short time later the accused produced a handgun and a physical altercation ensued. The 19-year-old victim was then shot in the abdomen.

A witness called police and attended to the victim, and the accused fled the scene.  The accused was located a short distance away by police and was taken into custody.  A loaded handgun was located nearby.

The accused was found to be in possession of a knife when searched.

The victim remains in hospital and is recovering from surgery.

Holy Cross School is now open after being closed yesterday for the police investigation. The parties involved in the incident are known to each other, and have no affiliation to the school.

The North Bay Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate this incident, and is requesting information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage or video surveillance of the area, prior to, or during the incident. Cameron Patrick WRIGHT, male, 21-years, of North Bay, who is charged with;

·        Attempt Murder using a Restricted Firearm

·        Aggravated Assault

·        Careless Use of a Firearm

·        Pointing a Firearm

·        Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

·        Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

·        Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm

·        Discharge a Restricted Firearm with Intent

·        Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime

·        Possession of Prohibited Ammunition

·        Carrying a Concealed Weapon

·        Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

·        Utter Threats
