B.C. Resident Charged in North Bay Sexual Assault Investigation

The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) has charged a Maple Ridge, British Columbia resident following a sexual assault investigation that began after an incident reported on July 31, 2026.

The accused, Nazif KAMENJAS, 58-year-old male, resident of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, has been charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Administer Noxious Thing

On July 30, in the 900 block of McKeown Avenue, a woman was approached by an unknown man who after a brief encounter, allegedly encouraged her to consume an alcoholic beverage before following her to her accommodation, restraining and sexually assaulting her. The woman was later able to seek assistance, was transported to hospital for treatment, and subsequently reported the incident to police on July 31. Later that day, the accused was located and arrested without incident.

"Sexual violence has no place in our community. We recognize the courage it takes for survivors to come forward,” said A/Deputy Chief Jeff Warner. “We want everyone to know that we are committed to thoroughly investigating these crimes, holding offenders accountable, and ensuring survivors have access to support resources."

The accused was arrested, released on bail with a future court date of August 25, 2026.
