Backpacks of Love campaign returns

The Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay is once again putting together Backpacks of Love filled with donated essential items.   

Officials are looking to the community for support, with donated items being accepted next weekend.  

On May 3, the committee will be accepting donations at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption garage, from 10 am to 2 pm. 

New items needed include: 

• Sturdy backpacks/duffle bag 
• 6 pk of socks – light & heavy                      
• Silver emergency blanket (not regular blankets) 
• Sun hats/ball caps  
• Flashlights Deodorant 
• Sunscreen (cream only) 
• Small hairbrushes (not combs) 
• Travel size shampoo/conditioner in one 
• Tarp 
• Feminine hygiene products 
• Toilet paper 
• Insect repellent (cream only) 
• Towelettes/wipes 
• Rain poncho 
• Toothbrush 
• Toothpaste 
• Lip balm 
• Travel size body wash 
• Hair elastics for ladies         

Monetary donations are also being accepted.  

In previous campaigns, the backpacks have been delivered to several area social service groups to give to those in need.
