Bain, Mac

Bain, Mac

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mac Bain announces his passing on Monday, October 19th, 2026, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, following a courageous 26-day battle with leukemia.

Mac was the devoted husband of Deb and a proud father to his daughter Tegan (husband Alex). He was predeceased by his daughter Jamie-Lynn Davies. A proud and loving grandfather, Mac leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Malikai, Taiya, Mia, Hudson, Hadley and Callum. Family was always at the heart of Mac's life, and nothing meant more to him than the time spent with those he loved.

Mac had a great appreciation for the simple pleasures in life: a good scotch, a round of golf, a friendly poker game, and the beauty of Northern Ontario. He enjoyed travelling, sharing stories, and, above all, making people laugh. Known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humour, he was still cracking jokes right up until the very end.

Mac also dedicated many years of his life to public service and was a proud member of the Martyn Funeral Home family for 42 years. He will be fondly remembered by his colleagues for the many laughs they shared and his familiar introduction, "Mac, like the hamburger!"

He will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter and memories he leaves behind will be treasured for years to come.

Family will receive friends at Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday October 25th from noon until 3 p.m. A donation to Health Sciences North or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
