Battalion Teddy Bear toss returns Thursday

Battalion Teddy Bear toss returns Thursday

By Richard Coffin

It’ll be raining teddy bears at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens on Thursday night.

It’s the fifth annual North Bay Battalion Teddy Bear Toss night.

Fans are invited to bring along a new, bagged stuffed animal and toss it onto the ice when the Troops score their first goal.

The Brick North Bay will be there selling Brickley Bears, with proceeds going to the Children’s Miracle Network and the North Bay Santa Fund.

Nearly 1,200 stuffed animals were collected at last year’s game and donated to area children’s charities and groups.

The Battalion will also be wearing special Teddy Bear Toss warm-up jerseys that are being auctioned online.

North Bay hosts Guelph at 7 pm Thursday night.

It’s the Troops final game before the Christmas break, with the season resuming Dec. 28.
