Benoit, Catherine
Catherine "Cathy" Benoit (née Rinneard) passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Catherine is lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard Benoit, and her children: Todd (Lianne), Nicholas, Shantelle (Max), Rick (Payton), and Rebecca. Her greatest joy in life was being "Grandma" (GraGra) to Mason, Maxton, Mila, Brixton, Fallon, and Jaxon. She is also lovingly remembered by her mother, May Rinneard; and was "the favorite" to her siblings Mic (Bob), Terri (Brian), Connie (Dave), Rick (Sue), and Suzie (Dan); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Catherine was predeceased by her father, Al Rinneard; her grandmother and best friend, Rose Poitras; and her grandfather, Leo Roy.
Catherine will be remembered for her exceptional eye to detail and the care she brought throughout a long career in the hospitality industry. She took great pride in creating welcoming spaces and was honoured to share her gift of hosting with so many people in her community. In retirement, Catherines favorite place was the cottage. She was known for catching the biggest fish, foraging for mushrooms and berries, and making sure there was always money on the table for every card game.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Yu and his team, as well as the many compassionate healthcare professionals who cared for Catherine with such kindness and dignity throughout her journey. We are especially grateful to the incredible team at North Bay Serenity Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown to both Catherine and our family during her final days.
We also wish to thank our family and friends for the countless messages, acts of kindness, and unwavering love and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine's memory may be made to North Bay Serenity Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced when available. Arrangements entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home.
