Big Drop in RIDE impaired charges

Big Drop in RIDE impaired charges

By Richard Coffin

Impaired driving charges were down across the North East Region during the OPP’s Festive RIDE campaign.

But so was the total number of RIDE checks.

Impaired charges dropped from 162 last year to 139 during the most recent campaign.

Ontario Provincial Police conducted 1,525 of the stops from Nov. 21, 2024 to Jan. 1, 2025.

That’s about 175 fewer than last season.
