Big Week For Tripped
Next week is a big week for a new local board game.
‘Tripped’, which takes players on a rally across North America, launches Nov. 12 on the Kickstarter Crowdfunding site.
Mark Sherry, co-creator, says earlier this year, a competition was held to see which city, North Bay or Sudbury would end up on the board.
“It came out to be over a thousand votes in the end, it was very, very close,” he says. “We made the executive decision to put both cities on the map.”
Each city will receive a $1,000 donation to the mayors’ charity of choice.
“The $1,000 will go to One Kid’s Place in North Bay,” says Mayor Peter Chirico.
Both Chirico and Sudbury Mayor Paul Lefebvre say they’re happy both cities made it onto the final version of the game.
“I’m also incredibly proud of our residents who took part in the competition, helping to secure a $1,000 donation to the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer,” says Lefebvre.
‘Tripped’ was created by North Bay resident Éric Boutilier, a local journalist, who has been tinkering with board games for years.
“We had to make some last-minute changes to the map to make space for both cities, but the final design looks great,” he says.
Sherry says crowdfunding connects inventors with their community.
“In our case we’ve already made the game so we’re a little ahead of the game,” he says. “We’ve just ordered the games, they should be in before Christmas and make an excellent Christmas present.”
