Brittney Peters

Brittney Peters

After facing the storm and fighting a courageous 2-year battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Brittney (Bert to many) passed peacefully on May 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Britt is survived by her rock and loving spouse, Marc Roy (children Ana and Nico), her parents Janice and Jeff Peters, shared parents Heather and Michael Leckie, brothers Justin (Nicole), Anthony (Taylor), Alex (Peyton) and shared siblings Jennifer (Graham) and Ryan (Krista). She will be sorely missed by her niece Nora, nephews Logan and Jensen, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Brittney was a senior nurse in the North Bay Regional Health Centre Critical Care Unit.  She was known for her strong advocacy for both patients and colleagues. Britt will always be remembered for her unwavering support for others, boundless love and the passion she poured into everything she pursued. Whether it was her fierce athleticism, her role as a caring daughter, sister, or her devotion as a partner, Britt approached every part of her life with wholehearted dedication and zeal. She left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to have crossed her path.

A special thank you to her three brothers who were assessed for stem cell donation, and to Justin who matched and gave Britt a fighting chance.

A heartfelt thank you to spouse Marc, cousin Jennifer and Brittney’s mother Janice, who rarely left Britt’s side over the 2-year battle.

Thank you to HSN Cancer Clinic and the Transplant Unit at the Ottawa General Hospital.

The family invites you to join them in celebrating Britt's life on Saturday, May 31 at Gateway City Brewery in North Bay, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A formal tribute will take place from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a celebration.

Brittney’s care has been entrusted to McGuinty’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Britt’s honour can be made to KidSport Ontario and the Stem Cell Patient Fund at the Ottawa Hospital. Gifts in memory of Brittney Peters through the Ottawa Hospital Foundation website will be automatically directed to the Stem Cell Patient Fund. Please sign your donor card and give blood.

If you ever want to chat with Britt, just look at the moon!
