Business at August 19th NNDSB meeting deemed ‘null-and-void’

The Near North District School Board (NNDSB) confirms ‘all business brought forward to the Board table on Aug. 19, 2025, is null and void’.

Specifics on why haven’t been detailed, however the board chair did issue a release a week after the meeting saying they’ve committed to strengthening their governance practices.

The meeting saw trustees approve a motion requesting the Minister of Education conduct an investigation into the governance and senior administrative practices of the board.

It revolved around the delayed completion of the K-12 school in Parry Sound.

In an Aug. 25 release, Ashley St. Pierre, Board Chair, addressed ‘recent events concerning the unfair treatment of NNDSB administration.’

“As trustees, our foremost responsibility is to serve students, families and our communities with integrity and respect,” reads the statement. “In this instance, our actions created uncertainty and concern among staff and the public. We recognize that the way in which this matter was handled did not reflect the standards of fairness, professionalism and collaboration that our communities expect of us.”

She also apologized, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to board administration, all employees and the public.

“We deeply regret the impact this has had on trust and confidence in the important work of our school system,” she says.

The Aug. 19 meeting also saw two new trustees sworn in, which will have to be done again.
