CAA lists Premier Road as one of the worst in the north

The Worst Roads list for Ontario is out from CAA.
All of the top 10 are in Southern Ontario.
Premier Road in North Bay is third on the northern list with three streets in Sudbury and one in Sault Ste. Marie compiling the regional top five.
The city previously announced sidewalk construction, including road resurfacing work, involving more than half of the West Ferris roadway was getting underway this spring.
Officials say the annual lists are compiled to advocate for improvements to road infrastructure.
“Drivers across Ontario are all too aware of poor road upkeep and the negative impact it has on everyone’s ability to get around their community,” says Nadia Todorova, Executive Director of the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario.
Hamilton’s Aberdeen Avenue was deemed the worst road in Ontario.
In addition to raising awareness of roads most needing maintenance work, CAA public opinion research conducted online in January 2025, also revealed that 85% of Ontarians agreed that short-term inconvenience due to road maintenance work is worth it to realize the long-term improvements needed.
Northern Top 5 (includes Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Nipissing, Parry Sound District and more):
- Panache Lake Road, Greater Sudbury
- McNabb Street, Sault Ste. Marie
- Premier Road, North Bay, Ontario
