A new fully automated public washroom facility has been installed near the boat launch and docks in Callander.

The municipality says the facility on Lansdowne Street West aims to provide essential amenities for residents and visitors year-round and enhance the overall experience of the waterfront and downtown area.

Officials say the installation was carried out by Urben Blu, a leader in smart, self-cleaning public restrooms across North America.

“This new washroom facility is a significant step forward in improving our public amenities,” says Mayor Robb Noon.  “It will not only serve our residents but also enhance the experience for tourists enjoying our waterfront. We are committed to providing clean and accessible facilities that reflect the values of our community.”

Noon adds 75% of the funding for the project came from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

The washroom is equipped with advanced features, including automated cleaning cycles and vandal-resistant materials.
