Canadore College Honours Community Partners

Canadore College proudly reaffirmed its commitment to experiential learning by recognizing the vital role that local organizations and businesses play in shaping the future workforce. At its annual Partner Appreciation event, the College celebrated the invaluable contributions of its community partners who support student placements and work-integrated learning opportunities.
Each year, Canadore honours select organizations with Outstanding Contribution Awards for their exceptional support in helping students gain real-world experience.
This year’s recipients exemplify dedication to student success and community collaboration:
North Bay Regional Health Centre
Every student in Canadore’s Nursing Program completes multiple clinical placements at the Health Centre, where they gain hands-on experience in patient care. The Rehabilitation Department also supports students in the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant programs, while several other departments engage students from human and social science programs.
Crisis Centre North Bay
A cornerstone of support services in the region, the Crisis Centre provides both residential and non-residential care. Throughout the year, the Centre offers diverse placement opportunities for Canadore students across multiple disciplines, contributing significantly to their professional development.
Voyageur Aviation
Voyageur Aviation is deeply integrated into Canadore’s aviation programs. Many of the College’s aviation faculty are former Voyageur employees, and a large number of the company’s aircraft maintenance staff are Canadore graduates. Voyageur not only advocates for student placements but also donates vital training equipment, reinforcing its commitment to growth and workforce development.
Near North District School Board
The NNDSB collaborates with Canadore to provide practical learning experiences for students in programs such as Social Service Worker and Early Childhood Education. The Board’s Safe Schools, Early Years, and Leadership Development teams coordinate meaningful placements in schools throughout the district, helping to prepare students for future careers in education and social services.
“Canadore College programs are industry-driven, and placement opportunities such as these ensure we are delivering the education our partners need,” said George Burton, President and CEO. “The experience our students gain through these partnerships not only builds their skills and knowledge but also instills the confidence they need to succeed. We are deeply grateful for the continued support of these outstanding partners.”
