Canadore College to Host Internationally Recognized Meisner Teacher Training Program
Canadore College will welcome acting teachers, directors, and professional actors from across Canada and around the world this summer as it hosts the Meisner Teacher Certificate Training Program led by internationally acclaimed acting educator and author Larry Silverberg.
Taking place July 4–17, 2026, at Canadore College in North Bay, the intensive two-week program will provide advanced training in the Meisner Technique, one of the world's most respected approaches to actor development and performance training.

The program will bring a diverse international community of artists and educators to North Bay, creating opportunities for professional collaboration, artistic exchange, and lifelong learning while showcasing Canadore College as a destination for creative and performing arts education.
"Canadore College is proud to host this internationally recognized training program and welcome participants from around the world to North Bay," said Dr. Sandra Efu, President and CEO of Canadore College. "Opportunities like this reinforce our commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and excellence in education while creating meaningful connections between our community and the global arts sector."
Participants will engage in an immersive exploration of Sanford Meisner's renowned approach to actor training while also developing the skills and understanding required to teach the technique to others. The program is designed to deepen technical mastery, foster artistic growth, and strengthen participants' understanding of human behaviour, authenticity, and meaningful connection.
"Great acting teaching is about helping human beings rediscover their capacity for truth, spontaneity, and authentic connection," said Silverberg. "This training is designed to help actors and teachers bring those qualities into their work on stage, in front of the camera, and into their classrooms while renewing their own artistic lives."
Developed by legendary American acting teacher Sanford Meisner, the Meisner Technique has influenced generations of performers and remains one of the most respected approaches to actor training worldwide. Silverberg has spent decades expanding and refining Meisner's work, training thousands of actors, directors, and acting teachers throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America.
The Meisner Teacher Certificate Training Program is designed for acting teachers, theatre educators, directors, and experienced actors seeking advanced professional development. Participants will take part in intensive practical training, explore Meisner philosophy and pedagogy, and learn strategies for effectively teaching the approach in educational and professional settings.
The program aligns with Canadore College's commitment to providing innovative learning experiences and strengthening opportunities within the creative industries. By hosting participants from across Canada and internationally, the program also contributes to the cultural and economic vitality of North Bay and the surrounding region.
