Canadore Men’s Basketball Team concludes Final Road Trip

Canadore men’s basketball concludes final road trip of regular season with tough losses to Sheridan and Humber.

 The Canadore College men’s basketball team wrapped up their final road trip of the regular season with two challenging defeats, falling to Sheridan College 96-92 on February 1 and to Humber College 95-57 on February 2. Despite the losses, Canadore had some strong individual performances as they prepare to finish the regular season next weekend at home.

 In their game against Sheridan, the team showed incredible fight. Thomas Gowland led the way for Canadore, finishing with a stellar 30 points, hitting 11 of 18 shots from the field and adding 4 assists and 5 rebounds. Ty Huxtable also had an impressive game, contributing 18 points and 13 rebounds while Isaiah Nanton added 11 points and 6 rebounds. The team shot an impressive 57.4% from the field including 44% from three-point range, but struggled with turnovers and second-chance points as Sheridan capitalized with 30 points off turnovers and 17 second-chance points.

 Canadore had a strong first half against Sheridan, leading 29-20 after the first quarter. However, Sheridan's scoring surge in the second half, particularly in the third quarter (28 points), led to the narrow 96-92 victory for the home team.

 The following day, Canadore faced the top-ranked Humber College in a tough matchup. The team struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 34.8% from the field and 17.4% from three-point range. Gowland continued to lead the team offensively, scoring 9 points, while Logan Parker and Isaiah Nanton each contributed 8 points. Despite their effort, Humber proved dominant in the paint, outscoring Canadore 44-16 in that category. The loss was a tough one, but the team is looking forward to closing out the regular season with their home crowd next weekend.

 The team will now look to bounce back as they wrap up their regular season with two home games against Niagara College, Saturday, February 8, at 1:00 p.m., and Mohawk College, Sunday, February 9, gametime 3:00 p.m.
