Canadore Men’s Volleyball Team Shines

Canadore College men’s volleyball shines in final regular season match with a clean sweep over Loyalist College

 The Canadore College men's volleyball team capped off their regular season in impressive fashion with a dominant 3-0 victory over Loyalist College on February 1. The win, which secured the team's position heading into the playoffs, saw the team outmatch their opponents with solid performances across the board.

 Canadore came out strong in each of three sets, winning 31-29, 29-27, and 25-21, showcasing their offensive power and defensive resilience. Leading the charge was outside hitter Ethan Lucas, who posted a remarkable 10 kills with no errors on 23 attempts, finishing the match with an impressive hitting percentage of .435. Lucas also contributed defensively with three digs, earning 12 total points on the night.

 Other standout performances included Hallen Ettles whose explosive play at the net resulted in 14 kills, one error, and a .591 hitting percentage. Ettles also made a key contribution in defense with five blocks, playing a pivotal role in the team's success. Gavin Kroes added another 8 kills, also contributing defensively with one block and three digs to help secure the win.

 

The team’s attack was sharp, finishing with a collective hitting percentage of .455. Setter Spencer Corston orchestrated the offense, tallying an impressive 36 assists to ensure consistent, fluid play throughout the match.

 

The victory positions the Canadore men's volleyball team for their upcoming playoff match where they will host Mohawk College on Saturday, February 8 at 5:00 PM. This will be the first round of the playoffs. The team is looking forward to the challenge ahead, ready to build on their momentum from a strong finish to the regular season.
