Canadore Panthers Weekend Wrap-up

Canadore Panthers wrapped a busy weekend with strong showings across three programs, highlighted by two road victories for Men’s Volleyball, a hard-fought four-set battle for Women’s Volleyball at Durham, and a competitive home effort from Men’s Basketball against Fanshawe.

Men’s Volleyball — 2–0 road swing (W 3–2 at Seneca; W 3–1 at Durham)

  • At Seneca (Jan. 17): Canadore outlasted the Sting in five (25–15, 18–25, 25–21, 22–25, 18–16). Sean Malherbe powered the attack with 20 kills (.415) and 13 digs, while Mason Begg added 12 kills. Hallen Ettles (6 kills, 3 blocks) and Khaled Bryant (8 kills) were impactful at the net. Spencer Corston steered the offense with 42 assists.
  • At Durham (Jan. 18): The Panthers won in four (25–15, 25–15, 23–25, 25–23) behind defence and first-contact control: 13 solo blocks and 7 aces. Malherbe posted 13 kills, Ettles added 6 kills/4 blocks, Bryant had 6 kills/3 blocks, Konrad Siedlec served 3 aces, and Corston distributed 26 assists. (Record now 8–3.)

Women’s Volleyball — Split weekend vs. GTA foes (L 0–3 at Seneca; L 1–3 at No. 9–1 Durham)

  • At Seneca (Jan. 17): Panthers fell in three (17–25, 17–25, 14–25), led by Elise Churman and Kira Fahrbach with 5 kills apiece; Shianne Shykoluk tallied 13 digs.
  • At Durham (Jan. 18): Canadore took the first set 25–23 before the Lords responded (16–25, 10–25, 17–25). Churman paced with 12 kills (.409); Fahrbach added 8 kills/2 aces; Reece Sommerfeld recorded 17 assists/2 aces. Panthers totaled 7 aces on the day.

Men’s Basketball — Fanshawe 83, Canadore 74 (Jan. 17, home)

Canadore led 42–41 at halftime before a cold third quarter swung the game.
Royal Egbonkhan posted 16 points/8 rebounds, Favour Okonkwo had 14 points/6 boards, and Zuriel Mhlongo added 10 points/4 steals. The Panthers defended and competed, but second-chance points and third-quarter shooting proved decisive.
