Canadore women’s volleyball wraps up regular season with thrilling 3-2 victory over Loyalist College
The Canadore College women’s volleyball team put on an incredible show in their final regular season game of the year, defeating Loyalist College in a thrilling 3-2 match on February 1, 2025. The victory capped an exciting regular season for the team, setting the stage for their upcoming playoff journey.
The match against Loyalist was a nail-biter from start to finish with sets going back and forth. Canadore battled hard, winning 22-25, 17-25, 26-24, 25-21, and 15-8, ultimately taking the match in five sets.
Kira Fahrbach was a standout for Canadore, leading the team with an impressive 13 kills and 11 digs while maintaining a hitting percentage of .250. Her consistency and ability to perform under pressure helped fuel Canadore’s success throughout the match.
In addition to Fahrbach’s stellar play, Sophie Hotte delivered an exceptional performance, posting 11 kills with no errors and a remarkable hitting percentage of .524. Hotte’s presence on both offense and defense was crucial to securing the win, finishing with 16 total points.
Calandra Bychyk and Delainee Rogers also contributed significantly to the team’s victory. Bychyk tallied 8 kills and 7 digs, while Rogers added 7 kills and 9 points, showcasing the team’s depth in attacking options.
Setter Reece Sommerfeld helped orchestrate the offense with 41 assists, ensuring efficient and dynamic play throughout the five-set match.
With this win, Canadore secured its spot in the playoffs where they will travel to Niagara College for a first-round match on Sunday, February 9 at 1:00 PM.
