Colette was the beloved mother of Carol Nieman (Chris) and Danny Pelland (Rosanne) as well as stepmother to Kelly Cantin, Kerry DiPasquale and daughter in law Colleen Cantin. Also left to mourn her passing are grandchildren Josh, Brianne (Hunter), Brittany (Nicholas), Bradley (Samantha), Jordan, and step grandchildren Ryan and his daughter Jadzia , Katrina, Justin, Kyle and Jamie. Colette is also survived by sisters Antoinette Gamache, Suzette Millette, and brothers Ernest Martel and Michael Martel along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends near and far.
Colette was predeceased by her husband Richard Cantin, parents Charles and Simone Martel, brother Gary Martel and sister Diane Blanchard as well as stepson Christopher Cantin.
Colette was employed by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Canada for 24 years. She and Richard made many friends along the way during their time in Burlington as well as travelling to various places in both Canada and the US. They eventually settled in Warren ON enjoying retirement living and more time with family and friends. Life just won’t be the same with Colette gone but we find comfort in knowing her and Richard are together once again.
We would like to thank Dr. Larson and staff from Health Sciences North in Sudbury for the tremendous support and care you gave to Colette during her time in Sudbury as well as to Nurse Carole and the staff at North Bay Regional Health Centre for the care and support that you gave to all of us on Colette’s final days. We will be forever grateful for the time we had to spend with our mom/grandmother during this time.
As per Colette’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration will occur at a later date. Interment will follow at Callander Union Cemetery. If desired, donations can be made to Canadian Lung Association, North Bay Regional Health Centre or Health Sciences North in Sudbury.
