Capitol Centre Bluesfest

Capitol Centre Bluesfest

The Capitol Centre has announced that Bluesfest is making a comeback this winter with a re-imagined format. The festival will now take place from January 9-11, 2025. Previously held outdoors over the Labour Day weekend, the event was discontinued due to a lack of financial support.

Dan Misturada, Director of Programming at the Capitol Centre, explained that they had to cancel the original plans because the funding they secured was insufficient for the outdoor, week-long festival. However, with continued support from the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage (BACH) Program, they have re-imagined Bluesfest for January.

The winter event will kick off with a party at Gateway City Brewery on January 9, followed by a "Winter Bluesfest Shuffle" on January 10, where attendees can visit multiple downtown venues to enjoy various performances. On January 11, the WKP Kennedy Gallery will host a Bluesfest-themed life drawing session, and the concert headliner Monkey Junk will perform at the Betty Spears Theatre
