Casino robbery leads to arrest
A 44-year-old Sturgeon Falls man has been arrested in North Bay after a robbery at Cascades Casino early Thursday morning.
The North Bay Police Service says just after midnight a man entered the casino with two weapons, adding an employee was struck several times and property on the gaming floor, a slot machine and computer were damaged.
Police say demands were made for money, with an employee complying.
They say as the man was leaving, he was confronted by city police officers, ran back into the building and smashed a window to try and escape.
That’s when he was arrested.
A search resulted in brass knuckles being seized, and all the money was recovered.
The investigation continues.
The accused was held in custody, pending a bail hearing.
