Celebrating Franco-Ontarian culture with Le Carnaval
Le Carnaval des Compagnons officially starts this weekend.
It’s the 63rd edition of the winter festival, celebrating Francophone culture, traditions, and creativity in the region.

A few events are taking place Saturday, including a fishing tournament, curling dinner at the Granite Club and an improv match in Sturgeon Falls.
Sunday’s official opening runs from 3-6 pm at Lee Park and includes sliding, skating, dog sled rides, and fireworks.
Throughout the week there’s arts and entertainment, music and dance, workshops, and more.

That includes a circus show and dinner in Bonfield on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Boréal Day on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 176 Lakeshore will include the unveiling of Bonhomme.
Events include family skating, wagon rides, entertainment, and more.
There’s also a concert that night at the Capitol Centre.
Officials say North Bay’s Le Carnaval des Compagnons is the second oldest in Canada, only behind the event in Quebec City.
