Chamber highlighting election candidate events in Mattawa, East Ferris and Bonfield
A few more municipal candidate events are being held around the area.
In Mattawa, the town is hosting an event with the five mayoral candidates tonight (Wed. Sept. 23). It takes place at the Mike Rodden Arena from 6-8 pm.
Each candidate will have 15 minutes to introduce themselves and speak to their platform.
On Thursday, from 6-9:30 pm at the arena, the councillor candidates will have an opportunity to do the same.
There is no formal debate at either event.
In East Ferris, an independent community group is hosting a municipal candidates forum on Oct. 1 at the Corbeil Park Hall (7-9 pm).
Candidates who attend will have time for an opening statement and will answer four prepared questions, with questions from the audience and one-on-one sessions afterwards, if time permits.
In Bonfield, a meet-the-candidates event is being held Oct. 8 (6-9 pm) at the community centre.
Officials say the informal event is a chance to learn more about the candidates, and hear their goals and priorities.
There will not be a formal question-and-answer session or debate.
