Changes coming to curbside collections in West Nipissing

Changes coming to curbside collections in West Nipissing

By Richard Coffin

The province will be responsible for residential recycling in West Nipissing as of July 2.

The municipality says they’re currently working with Circular Materials, a not-for-profit organization that manages recycling programs across Ontario, to ensure a smooth transition.

Officials say GFL Environmental has been retained by the province to handle recycling collection at the curb and at recycling depots.

As of July 2, they will be the new contact (1-888-796-4352 or c29recycling@gflenv.com) for missed collections or recycling-related requests.

Starting mid-June, new recycling carts will be distributed to every household that currently receives curbside collection.

A recycling app, similar to the one that is currently available to West Nipissing residents, will be rolled out next year by the new program manager.

West Nipissing Environmental Services will continue to provide curbside garbage collection on a weekly basis, on the same day as usual.

The municipality also says it will be expanded to Field and River Valley in July.

They say blue box collection will be added at a later date, with more information expected soon.
