Charges filed after OPP respond to vehicle in the lake

One person is facing charges after Nipissing West OPP responded to a vehicle that drove into Lake Nipissing around noon on Saturday.

Police say the incident happened off Pierre Road in West Nipissing.

The OPP says officers found an unconscious person on the ground nearby and attempted to wake them up before an officer was assaulted.

A 41-year-old resident of West Nipissing was arrested and charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, assault a peace officer and fail to comply with probation order.

They were released with a September 4 court appearance in North Bay.
