CHENIER, GERTRUDE
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gertrude Laure Marie Chenier (nee Boissonneault) on June 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her bedside at the Algonquin Nursing Home.
Gertrude was the beloved wife of the late Peter Chenier Jr. She was going to be 93 yrs. in August. Gertrude was the loving mother of Gerald Chenier (Jeannine), Linda Chenier (the late Richard Larocque Sr.) and predeceased by her youngest son Marcel Chenier.
She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Tammy Larocque, Stephane Chenier, Richard/Titor Chenier (Melissa), Josee (nee Chenier) Kelly (Mark) and Richard Larocque Jr., her great grandchildren Jaret Larocque, Dustin Larocque, Evan Larocque, Trenton Chenier, Jersey Breen, Leah Chenier, Cheyenne Breen, Liam Kelly, Madison Chenier and Mason Chenier and her great great granddaughter Brielle Breen.
Gertrude is survived by her only living sister Irene Martel. She is predeceased by her parents Zepherin and Laura Boissonneault and her sisters Denise Soucie, Yvette Knee, Estelle Plamandon, Anna Minor, Isabelle Boissonneault, Isabelle Martel.
A Catholic mass in the presence of ashes will be celebrated at Ste-Anne’s Church in Mattawa on Saturday July 11, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Internment of ashes to follow at the Ste- Anne’s Cemetery and a celebration of life to follow with luncheon at the Golden Age Hall.
The Family askes in lieu of flowers that donations would be greatly appreciated to the Algonquin Nursing Home, the Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home.
