Christmas Walk and Lions Telethon on the go

Christmas Walk and Lions Telethon on the go

If the recent Festival of Trees, Santa Claus parade or this week’s snowfall haven’t put you in the Christmas spirit yet, a few events this weekend may get you there.

The Old-Fashioned Downtown Christmas Walk, which typically draws thousands of people to Main Street, takes place on Friday evening.

The event runs from 6-9 pm, starting with the lighting of the Christmas tree at the corner of Fraser and Main.

A host of winter activities are lined up, including North Bay Hydro bucket rides, visits with Santa, train rides, the ski and snowboard rail jam, roasted marshmallows and more.

On Saturday, the Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon returns for a 78th year.

A dozen local musical acts will be performing with a live studio audience being welcomed for the first time to the Canadore College G-Wing theatre.

The fundraising and musical event will be broadcast online from 2 pm to 11 pm and from 2 pm to 7 pm on YourTV North Bay.

Officials are raising funds to provide meals and toys to families in need over the holidays in Arnstein, Bonfield, Burk’s Falls, Kearney, Mattawa, Restoule, Rutherglen, South River, Strong and Sundridge.

On Sunday (Dec. 1), ‘A Cory Marks Christmas’ returns to Country 90.5 FM.

Every Sunday in December from noon until 2 pm Kevin O and Marks will play some of the best Country Christmas Music to help you get in the festive spirit.

They’ll also reminisce about Christmas memories, talk about their favourite holiday movies and more.
