City and its workers approve four-year contract

By Richard Coffin

A new four-year agreement has been reached between the City of North Bay and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 122-1.

It runs until Dec. 31, 2028.

The union ratified the deal on Sunday while Council approved it Monday night.

The contract includes wage increases of 16% over the four years, including 5% this year, 4% next year and 3.5% in both 2027 and 2028.

“Thanks to both bargaining teams for working together to reach a fair deal that benefits our employees and the residents of North Bay,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “This four-year contract will help the City tackle skilled workforce recruitment and retention challenges while ensuring services continue to be delivered safely, efficiently, and without disruption.”

The union represents 276 city employees.
