City Completes Upgrades to Bruman Dog Park
The Bruman Community Dog Park is open and ready to welcome residents and their four-legged friends.
Recent improvements include an expanded large dog area with a natural wooded section, new shade tables and benches, improved drainage, and a new walkway connecting the park to the recently completed parking area.
The City of North Bay took over operation and maintenance of the Bruman Community Dog Park in November 2025, following 10 successful years of operation by the North Bay and District Humane Society through a lease agreement with the City.

“We’re pleased to see these improvements complete and welcome residents back to enjoy the park,” said Mark Thomas, the City’s Manager of Parks. “The Bruman Community Dog Park has been a great community space for many years, and these upgrades will help make it even better for dogs, their owners and visitors.”
The improvements are part of the City’s ongoing efforts to provide more off-leash opportunities throughout North Bay. Earlier this year, the City launched a pilot project using four outdoor rink locations as temporary off-leash dog areas during the spring, summer and fall.

The pilot locations include Sage Park, Kinette Playground, Greenhill Park and Police Playground. The enclosed spaces use existing rink boards and gates to provide safe areas for dogs and owners, with signage and waste bag stations available at each location.
The pilot project was created in response to resident feedback requesting more accessible off-leash spaces in different areas of the city. The City will use feedback and usage information from the pilot to help evaluate future opportunities for neighbourhood dog parks.
