City gearing up for Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is only two weeks away.

The thirteenth in-person event takes place June 4 (10 am to 3 pm) at Shabogesic Beach on the North Bay Waterfront.

Aerial performances include the Skyhawks Parachute team, a Hercules (CC-130J) flypast, US Air Force F-16 flypast and the CF-18 demo team.

“It’s an exciting show this year from an air demonstration standpoint but we also have many static displays that will be on the ground from North Bay’s very own Algonquin Regiment,” says Scott Tod, 22 Wing Honorary Colonel. “This is the 125th anniversary of the Algonquin Regiment which has a steep and rich history of military service to our country.”

Mayor Peter Chirico says Armed Forces Day gives residents the chance to show their support for military members.

“It’s important for us to come out as a community, celebrate and say thank you to the men and women that serve in our armed forces,” says Chirico.  “Whenever there’s an issue, who’s there? Our armed forces.”

106.3 Jet FM – North Bay’s Classics will once again be broadcasting live on location, bringing the day’s excitement to listeners across the area.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds announced in mid-April they were rescheduling their appearance to Aug. 27.
