City honouring veterans with new crosswalks

North Bay has joined Callander in recognizing the service and sacrifice of Canada’s veterans with commemorative crosswalks.

Three have been painted at the intersection of Chippewa and Ferguson streets, outside Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens, where North Bay’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony takes place.

“The new crosswalks are a visible reminder of our community’s enduring respect and gratitude,” states a social media post.  “A special thank you to David McDonald and the team at Blacktop for generously installing and maintaining the crosswalks in kind.”

Another one is reportedly planned for East Ferris.

Richard Coffin has been a reporter and news anchor on the radio in North Bay for over 25 years.  From premiers to people in the neighbourhood, he enjoys connecting with newsmakers and writing stories that matter to area listeners on a variety of topics including healthcare, education, politics, sports and more.
