City man charged after threats investigation in Mattawa

North Bay OPP have charged a 34-year-old city man with uttering threats following an investigation in in Mattawa.

On May 28, provincial police say they received information about a video circulating on social media of an individual making threats to bring a firearm to a summer event and harm people in attendance.

A search warrant was executed at a Wyld Street resident last Thursday in North Bay, with one person taken into custody.

Police say no firearms were located during the search.

The accused was released from custody and has an Aug. 18 court appearance.

The OPP is thanking the people who reported this incident, saying prompt reporting of concerning behaviour is critical in ensuring community safety.
