City’s population estimated just over 62,000 last year
Watch for updated population signs in communities across the region, including North Bay.
We’ll get an exact picture when the results of the recently completed census are released, but estimates last year pegged the number of city residents at 62,062.
Figures from Statistics Canada show a steady increase of people calling North Bay home each year since 2021. The net total is 7,237.

Every community across Nipissing, except Callander, saw population increases between 2021 and 2025.
Callander’s population estimate last year was 4,021.
That’s down 76 compared to 2021.
West Nipissing was also on the rise, while Burk’s Falls, South River and Sundridge were among the communities in Almaguin Highlands that saw net increases over the five years, too.
Statistics Canada says it strives to release census data as quickly as possible, adding it plans for all major releases from the 2026 Census to be completed approximately 18 months from Census Day.
