CMHA says film boosting conversation about anxiety
The local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association is welcoming the increased discussion about anxiety with the box office success of ‘Inside Out 2’.
CMHA North Bay and District says the movie continues the story of Riley, now a teenager facing new emotional challenges, including anxiety.
“Inside Out 2 ingeniously presents audiences with a relatable and impactful representation of anxiety,” says Mary Davis, CEO of CMHA North Bay and District. “The movie highlights the complexity of anxiety by showing how it can be a motivator but also cause problematic feelings such as tension, fear, and worry. The characterization of anxiety in this way makes the struggles of anxiety accessible to everyone — including young children — and helps in the fight against mental health stigma.”
CMHA provides services and programs in support of people living with mental health concerns, mental illnesses or addictions.
Variety reports ‘Inside Out 2’ has generated nearly $1.5 billion at the global box office after six weeks of release, beating out ‘Frozen II’ to become the highest-ever grossing animated film.
